Day 1: Drive Cusco – Soraypampa / Hike to Humantay Lagoon – Suyrucocha.
Day 2: Hike to the Salkantay pass & descend into Cloudy forest
Day 3: Exploring the coffee farm and first views of Machu Picchu

We are going to pick you up from your hotel of Cusco very Early in our private van and then drive for about 2 hours to Mollepata where we will have our breakfast, after we continue in our car for another an hour and half until Soraypmapa the Salkantay trail head, this day we will leave early to take advantage of other big groups to appreciate the landscape in peace, because after 8:00 am are arriving lots groups and turns crowded.
Once we arrive to Soraypmapa, we will have time to use the facilities and get ready for the adventure, klater backpacs on and start our Salkantay Trek adventure with an hour and half ascending hike toward the glacial lake of Humantay Snow peak, next to the lake our chef is going to serve you a hot drink to commemorate the stunning views. Our guide will explain you about this place and then free time to explore or relax. After enjoy of this place start our way back to Soraypmapa by the same trail, along this return journey we will see a lot people who are doing a day tour, big groups ascending to the lake.
Once we arrive to Soraypmapa for lunch we will see more people arriving to this place, these are trekkers who are doing the traditional Salkantay Trek itinerary, also the are going to visit the lake in the afternoon after their lunch. Our lunch will be waiting already, time to wash our hands and to enjoy our first amazing lunch. Once finish the lunch refill in your water bottles already to take a short rest before to continue with our hike by the Salkantay Valley.
After to use the facilities, our Salkantay Trek journey continue with direction to our basecamp located at Salkantay Pampa at 3,900m / 12,795fy, this is 2 hours more in gradual ascent, along the trail the Apu Salkantay is all the time in front us with nice views, once we arrive to camp our team give us a welcome with big claps, also our tens are already set up for relax. Minutes late we are going to have a tea time and the explanation about the Andean constellations, later is served our dinner and before to go to bed the tour leader is showing you in the sky some constellations it the water allow.
We will wake up you with hot drinks in your tent and great views of the Andes. You will have time to pack up your duffels bags and hand off to your porters before energetic breakfast, prepared by our chef. After to refill in our water bottles start the challenge part of the Salkantay trek with 2 hours of a gradual uphill until summit of the Salkantay trek at 4630m / 15,190 ft. From this spot, the views are magical in 360° and are possible to see some avalanches happening if we are lucky. After pictures continue a 10 minutes’ Walk to special spot for explanation by our guide about the Apus (Mount Gods) and to take pictures, also will see the Salkantay Lagoon who causes a big avalanche in 2020 that destroyed some parts of the trail and towns.
After that, begin our downhill hike towards to Wayracpunku where we will have our delicious lunch, along the trail is possible to see some wildlife like Chinchillas, Mountain Cara Cara falcons, some condors flying if are lucky and a fog coming up to the Salkantay Peak form the deep of the forest sometimes. Once we arrive, we will enjoy our lunch and time for a short nap.
Finally, another 3-hour downhill hike from the highlands with cold and dry air to our second campsite located at 2770m /9087ft right in the cloud forest with humid warm. This is faster changes of the landscape and weather. Upon your arrival, our staff will greet you, show your tents, and the hot drinks are ready for you, followed by our dinner to go to bed.
Again, our hiking staff will wake you up in the morning with a hot drink in your tent and some time to pack up your belongings. Another delicious breakfast is served and then begin another day of the Salkantay trek. Today will be mostly in the cloud forest with warmer temperatures and humid.
We will hike in a gradual downhill for about 3 hours to reach the famous Llucmabamba, where we have our delicious lunch. The trail has beautiful views of the green valley, flowers are abundant with orchards, ferns, and trees everywhere. You may see some Andean birds, also bananas farms and granadilla. after a 3 hours hike will take a van to Llucmabamba.
Llucmabamba is the place where we are going to explore the tropical forest and visit to a local organic coffee farm. At the farm, you will have a brief introduction regarding the coffee in this region, the importance for the locals and taste some of the freshly-brewed coffee. Later our chef will serve us and delicious food.
After lunch and short nap benign another 3 gradual uphill hike by the original Inca trail towards to one of the most beautiful campsites of the cloud forest called Llactapata at 2750m / 9022ft. Llactapata is an ancient Inca small town from where will have a stunning view of Machu Picchu with the sunset to the distance and a perfect place for yoga. You are going to overnight in front of Machu Picchu.
After tea time and dinner we have another more option to see the Andean constellation on the sky.
Our lovely team wake you up again with tea accompanied with an incredible setting, after an early delicious breakfast over the mountain, begin our downhill trek towards the hydroelectric, this a 2-hour easy section with amazon views like waterfalls, wildlife as parrots etc.
Once we arrive to Hydroelectric station our team are waiting ready with the last lunch, after to enjoy our delicious food is time to say thanks and good bye to all the team that supported along the Salkantay Trek.
After, start our last stretch of the Salkantay Trek with direction to the town of Aguas Calientes, this hike is for another 3 hours next to the Urubamba River following the railway. This section is interesting because was used by the American professor Hiram Bingham when he rediscovered Machu Picchu. On the trail, we will see many species of flora and fauna, including the famous Peruvian national bird called Cock of the Rock if we are lucky, toucans, oropendolas, parrots, and orchids. Also, you will see some buildings, terraces, that are part of Machu Picchu.
Once You arrive to the town of Aguas Calientes, a tour leader will take you to your hotel for your registration and relax, at the scheduled time is our dinner in a local restaurant and your guide will provide you all the important information for our visit to Machu Picchu last day.
Note: Today if you are tired, after lunch, you can take a train from Hydroelectric station to Aguas Calientes Town for an extra cost.
Today is the most important day for you. Finally arrive at the highlight of the Salkantay Trek, Machu Picchu. We are going to visit in the morning, for that you will wake up early to have a breakfast in your hotel.
Then you will head out to the bus station and line up to take one of the first buses to Machu Picchu at 5:30 AM. The bus ride is 30 minutes to the Machu Picchu entrance where you will free time to use the facilities before to enter to explore this amazing Inca side. It is important because inside doesn’t have facilities and is not possible to re-enter to Machu Picchu if you get out for facilities or other things,
Once you are inside, the guide will head to the watchtower area which is a beautiful area to take photos. Then the guide will introduce the history of Machu Picchu and explore this amazing citadel for 2 hours walking, seeing the most important areas inside, like the Temple of the sun, three windows temple, Inca residencia, sun dial, temple of the condor, living area, much more, in all these places your guide will explain you the function and importance of each one, always following the new regulations of the government.
Those who have booked Huaynapicchu or Machu Picchu Mountain will be ready to begin the climb and your guide will show you the checkpoint for those mountains. When you done your activity, you will walk directly to the exit area to take the bus back to Aguas Calientes for lunch.
You can enjoy lunch somewhere in the town and then take the afternoon train to Ollantaytambo or Poroy station, where our driver will be waiting for you outside and take you back to your hotel of Cusco in our private van. You will arrive to your hotel at around 19:30pm. End of the Salkantay Trek.

For any Trek, you need sleeping bag. We recommend a warm sleeping bags for a low temperature as -15C. Air mattresses and trekking poles are optional but recommended. If you don’t have or want to bring all these items, we have for rent.
