Our tour guide will pick you at from your hotel a 5am to travel by 3 hours until to get the Hot spring of Lares. Along this trip we are going to make a short stop in Calca to buy some groceries, gifs to interact with highland people and something that you forgotten, also we are making some short stops for amazing pictures before to arrive to Lares. At Lares we have free time to enjoy the hot spring that are divided in different pools running from cold to hot water. Then we will enjoy our first breakfast prepared by our chef.
Afterwards we will take our van to make another 40 minutes trip towards the trail head, Quishuarani at 3,300m / 10.827ft where we will meet our all-support staff for this Lares Trek, also here we going to start our Trek. Before to start we need to give our duffle bags ready to the trek team, then we will begin our activity with a cultural immersion.
We are going to a house of the local family where they will welcome us with love at the Andean style singing, dancing, providing us a present as memory elaborated for them, after that they will show us their traditions, customs, Techniques, and also, they will teach us all the steps of the Andean agriculture since the planting until the harvest of potatoes, we recommend me you to take part of this different activities to have a nice experience, later on we are going to know how to feed some animals and also they explain us how they build the houses at the Incan Style. The activities will be depended in what season you are traveling.
Here we will spend our time until our lunch, also the lunch will be prepared by the local people and our professional chef, after lunch is time to say Goodbye family, because start our trek by the Lares Trail, it is 3 hours until to our first campsite. It is a gradual ascending hike, along the trail we will see more shepherds and farmers, will have a nice surprise who is an amazing waterfalls, the water of this are coming from the snow peaks, from here we will start a zigzag hike until to reach or first campsite next to a blue lagoon, there you will be welcomed by our trekking team and also your tents will be ready set up, here you can take a rest until to dinner or go to explore a little around the lagoon, after to enjoy our diner is time to sleep.
Today our trekking team will wake you up with coca tea inside your tents to combat the cold, we will have time to prepare our things before enjoying our energetic breakfast, then begin our trek in ascent for about 4 hours at a slow pace until we reach the highest point called pass of Pachacutec at 4700 meters above sea level with incredible views of lakes, peaks, it is here where we will celebrate our achievement with free time to enjoy the mountains, snow peaks, landscapes, lakes, scenery in general.
Our lovely team will wake you up with hot Andean tea inside your tent before to stand up, after another delicious breakfast start our ascending zigzag hike for 4 hours approximately through the Lares Trek, today is the challenge part until to reach the summit called Condor or Pachacuteq Pass, along this trail will compensate you the Andean scenery of the Lares Valley to your efforts with a lagoons, snow peak, also will see flocks of alpacas, sheep’s, and wildlife as Goo’s, Cara Cara eagle, Chinchillas. Once we arrive to the summit of the Lares trek called Pachacuteq or Condor pass at 4,680m / 15,350ft, practically you are above the pick and clouds with a stunning view in 360 degrees, also we are going to enjoy a hot Andean tea to re-energize with a view in from you of the Pitusiray Snow peak, after a short break we are going to do aa Andean offering headed to the Apu (God) Pitusiray located in from us, and the time for pictures before to continue with or hike.
After, we start a descended hike the opposite side of the Lares Valley Trek until Accopata where we will have our lunch, this down way is an hour and half and also, we are going to see some llamas grazing, lagoons, the Valley and we are lucky we can see some condors flying in the sky. Once we will arrive to Accopata our lunch will be waiting ready to enjoy a short break and refill your water bottles.
From here, is another 2 to 3 hours descending hike through the valley until to arrive to second and last campsite located in the villages named Cancha Cancha, in the way also is possible to see more shepherds and kids waiting for some toys of gifs.
The electricity is recently in this village, just in December of 2019 the government decided to bring the energy here, before that they use to illuminate their houses with candles and alcohol lighters, and also doesn’t arrive a road here.
Finally, after to enjoy our tea time and dinner we are going to learn about the Andean constellations and the importance for the agriculture as calendar in the highlands, also we will show you in the sky those constellations like Andean cross, and another constellation like Virgo and much more.
Another delicious breakfast served by our team and fill in your water bottles, before to say goodbye Cancha Cancha and depart our descending hike, we are going to visit another family carrying some groceries as a present, there they will teach a little about their spinning, weaving and iconography of their clothing, also we recommend you to take part of those activities.
After, we are going to start our last section of the Lares Trek until fundo Huaram, it is like 4 hours along the valley next to the river, will pass by more llamas and alpacas on the way. Also, will see farms of potatoes, fava beans, strawberry and a different other crop in Andean style, here we are going to explain in you another technique of agriculture according the altitude.
Once we arrive to Haram our chef will serve us a good entrance before the main course called Pachamanca. Also, our chef will teach us how to prepare this main course and we will take part of this, we need to wait a little and then enjoy this delicious food such as a goodbye of all our trekking team.
Time to say bye to the all team that supported us along the Lares trek (chefs, horse runners), if loved their work you could give them some appreciation, after start our trip in our van to Ollantaytambo where we are going to explore the Inca Town, there we are going to have our dinner in a local restaurant before to board the train to Aguas Calientes, once will arrive to the Town our tour leader will guide you to your hotel for you registration and sleep for the next day.
Upon your arrival at Machu Picchu town, you will check-in to your hotel and rest
Finally, the day arrived, after the breakfast provided by your hotel, we are going to take the bus to Machu Picchu entrance, this trip is 30 minutes up in zigzag, there you guide will provide you the entrance tickets, don’t forget to carry with your original passport and you will have time to use the facilities, because inside the Incan site of Machu Picchu doesn’t have toilets and is not allow to re-enter once you go out for any reasons.
Then we are ready to enter and start to explore Machu Picchu, according the new regulations we need to follow just one way and take distance from another groups, our tour guide are going to provide you fully explain of the all most important sites of Machu Picchu, in the religious area we are visiting al the temples, like a Temple of the Sun, Temple of the mom, Temple of the Three windows, sun dial, Inca House, Temple of the Condor and more, also the agriculture area and living area, etc. This tour is in two hours.
Once we finish the guided tour, if you booked in advance the entrances for an extra hike to Machu Picchu or Huayna Picchu peak, our tour leader will show the main entrance to star the extra adventure by your own, once you conquer the summit of your peak and took photos back to Machu Picchu and take the way down bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch.
Lunch is not included is by your own, after lunch you will have time to explore more or buy something suchas presents, but this will depend of your train depart schedule, your train will depart at 14:55 or 15:20.
, you need to be 40 minutes prior in the train station to board and trip to Ollantaytambo, along this railway you are going to see Incan sites, deep canyons, and beautiful landscapes.
After, in Ollantaytambo our driver is waiting for you outside of the station, he will take you back in our private van to Cusco and to your hotel, you are arriving to your hotel at 19:00pm approximately.

For any Trek, you need sleeping bag. We recommend a warm sleeping bags for a low temperature as -15C. Air mattresses and trekking poles are optional but recommended. If you don’t have or want to bring all these items, we have for rent.
